Course Description
The Migrating to SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 course (3068) enables Linux administrators with experience on Linux distributions other than SUSE LINUX to perform administrative tasks on the SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 (SLES 9) platform.
Course Objectives
This course teaches theory as well as practical application with exercises on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 for the following objectives (and topics):
- Install SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9
- Understand YaST
- Understand SUSEconfig
- Configure the Network connection
- Manage User Accounts
- Understand the SLES 9 startup mechanism
- Configure services on SLES 9
- Monitor the system
- Configure kernel parameters
- Use the SLES Rescue system
The Appendix includes a section on how to use AutoYaST.
Course Audience
This course is intended for Linux administrators who have little or no experience with SUSE LINUX but who are planning to implement SLES 9 in their network.
Prerequisite Knowledge
You should have basic knowledge of the following:
- Experience with any Linux operating system
- Familiarity with administrative tasks on Linux server systems
- Fundamental knowledge of networking technologies
