The Getting Started with Linux: Novell's Guide to CompTIA's Linux+ course (3060) focuses on the basic Linux skills you need to perform administrative tasks in SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 (SLES 9).
This course was originally designed to prepare you for an earlier version of Comptia's Linux+ exam. However, it does not completely prepare you for the current version of the exam.
The skills you learn in this course, along with those taught in the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Administration (3072) and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Advanced Administration (3073) courses, prepare you to take the Novell Certified Linux Professional (Novell CLP) certification practicum test.

Current Novell CNE (Certified Novell Engineer) certification candidates with experience in other operating systems can also use this course to begin preparing for the Novell CLP (Certified Linux Professional) Practicum.
Before you begin this course, we recommend that you have some experience working with a Linux desktop or server in a computing environment (such as an enterprise or academic environment).

This course helps you prepare for the Novell Certified Linux Professional 10 (CLP 10) Practicum Exam, called the Practicum. The Novell CLP 10 is a prerequisite for the higher level certification Novell CLE 10 Practicum. To achieve the Novell CLE 10 certification, you are required to pass the Novell CLP 10 Practicum (050-697).
The Novell CLP 10 Practicum is a hands-on, scenario-based exam where you apply the knowledge you have learned to solve real-life problems—demonstrating that you know what to do and how to do it. In addition to the objectives in Course 3060, the practicum also tests you on the objectives in the following courses:
