Course Description

The SUSE Linux Advanced Administration (3038) course teaches how to perform SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (SLES 9) administrative tasks that complete your basic SLES 9 skill set.

Course Objectives

This course teaches you how to perform the following Linux system administration tasks for SLES 9:
  • Install SLES 9 with a custom partitioning
  • Configure the network manually
  • Configure network services
  • Secure a SLES 9 server
  • Manage backup and recovery
  • Create shell scripts
  • Compile software from source
  • Perform a health check and performance tuning
  • Manage hardware and component changes
These are tasks common to an experienced SUSE Linux administrator in an
enterprise environment.

Course Audience

While the primary audience for this course is Linux professionals, administrators with experience in other operating systems can also use this course to help prepare them to perform advanced SLES 9 administrative tasks.

Prerequisite Knowledge

Before taking this course, you should review the content in the SUSE Linux Advanced Administration  course (3037) to make sure you are familiar with the concepts and skills listed in the course objectives.
