Course Description

The SUSE Linux Network Services (3057) course teaches you advanced Linux administration skills that focus on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (SLES 9) network services.

Course Objectives

This course teaches you how to perform the following SLES 9 network services tasks:
  • Use BIND to configure a DNS server
  • Use DHCP to manage networks
  • Set up a print server
  • Use Samba to connect to Windows
  • Configure a mail server
  • Use OpenSLP
  • Monitor Network Traffic
  • Deploy Tomcat
These are common tasks performed by an experienced SUSE Linux administrator
responsible for network services in an enterprise environment.

Course Audience

This course is intended for Linux administrators who want to learn the fundamental skills of network engineering in a SUSE Linux Enterprise Server environment.

Prerequisite Knowledge

The exercises in this course assume that you are familiar with Linux text editors. The exercises do not list every single step to accomplish a task, and assume that you are already familiar with Linux system administration tasks.

Before taking this course, you should be comfortable and familiar with the knowledge and skills provided in  the following courses:
