Course Description

The SUSE Linux Security (3058) course teaches you various security-related knowledge and skills to help you in administering and engineering SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (SLES 9) in a production environment.

Course Objectives

This course teaches you the following security-related SLES 9 concepts and skills:
  • General Considerations and Definition of Terms
  • Host Security
  • Cryptography: Basics and Practical Application
  • Network Security
  • Firewalls
  • Packet Filters
  • Application Level Gateways
  • Virtual Private Networks
  • Intrusion Detection and Incident Response
These are common tasks performed by an experienced SUSE Linux administrator or engineer who is responsible for security and firewalls in an enterprise environment.

Course Audience

The primary audience for this course SUSE Linux engineers who need to plan and implement security on their SUSE Linux Enterprise Server network.

Before taking this course, you should be comfortable and familiar with the knowledge and skills provided in  the following courses:
